In our high school library we do not have enough materials to meet the needs of our Special Education students. They come in excited for books such as Diary of a Wimpy Kid or National Geographic titles. These books become like comfort food for them. Finding a quaint nook in our library to curl up and read a good story is essential to foster a love of reading. These are the books they are continually looking for on our shelves. Connecting with a good story is critical for students to develop a passion for reading. The books on this list will help our students enhance their love of reading, inspire them to try new things and learn to explore the world around them. We encourage them to learn new things and share the information with us and fellow students. Engaging our students is our primary goal and having these books will play a huge part in achieving that goal.
