The purpose of this project is to help kids from an under-privileged background fall in love with books and read on their own. Great stories get students hooked, resulting in improved reading and English skills (and less electronics). Like many teachers I've used my own money to start a library of diverse topics to grab students' interest but need help in completing each book series. Watching kids catch the "reading bug" is magical. Great series helps this happen. Teaching can be a thankless and exhausting job but little. moments like these keep you going. During language arts each day we spend 30 minutes doing silent reading.
