After teaching online Visual Arts classes to my students in the Spring, I realized we (my students and I) were limited to the art assignments due to a majority of my students not having art supplies at home. Digital formats were great for my kids to learn and explore, but I felt I was doing a disservice as their Visual Arts Instructor when I couldn't put art materials into their hands for learning mediums. The materials I am requesting will be distributed to every student in the school when they pick up their digital devices the week of August 31. I want to make sure that I give them a good supply of the minimum art materials they will need for the first few quarters in the new school year. Since all of my students are on free/reduced lunches, the families that already struggle are in a particularly bad spot with job losses over the past few months. I don't want my kids to go without because they cannot afford a few simple items for art class that I would normally provide for them in my art room. These supplies will make an incredible impact for my students. Nearly 70% of my students are English Language learners and art class means so much to them. It would make them so happy to start out the new year online art curriculum with the supplies they need.
