Students will be able to go into the back of the classrom, in a quiet place and practice the reading skills they have learned. Having a well stocked, leveled library will reduce the amount of children selecting books that are not appropriate for their reading level during independent reading time. Over the course of my twenty year career, my library has become tattered and books have been lost or worn out. Improving the overall look, quantity and choice of books will greatly reduce the playing and behavioral issuses that occur (students will be working independently) while the teacher works with other groups. Students will also use the journals after reading to record their thoughts on the books they read and respond to specific questions posed by the teacher.
