Math is one of the most difficult subjects to master if you are blind or visually impaired. With early intervention, my students will benefit greatly with these supplies. I plan on using the cash register and paper money to develop money management skills, which is part of the blind and visually impaired expanded core curriculum. Additionally, I will use the cookie jar to teach my kids to count and to learn concepts such as in and out, ie, put the cookie in the jar and take the cookie out of the jar. Furthermore, The Magna Tiles will be used to teach fractions and once again concept development, ie, shapes. And, lastly, I will use The Allowance Game to teach my students how to save, budget, and incorporate math concepts.
