This is our first year having a 3D printer. We inherited the printer from a colleague who took a position elsewhere. Previously, the 3D printer was used to print robot parts. Purchasing filament in varying colors will allow the students to complete different projects of different levels and sophistication. Some students are currently researching how to design and print a rubix cube. Being able to design and print objects will allow students to take projects from concept to reality. They will be able to learn real world skills to use in careers including but not limited to animation, modeling, and architecture. Being able to have fun as well as make real life connections will improve student achievement and success.
