Specifically, the majority of my students struggle with attention and hyperactivity issues. Flexible seating allows students to learn in an environment that promotes movement through using healthy outlets. Wiggle seats, wobble chairs, and balance balls will offer my students a safe option for getting their wiggles out during instruction and counseling time. I currently have some flex seating options in my office, but it is not enough to meet the needs of all of my students. Counseling is a special time for students. During counseling, students discover important things about themselves. They grow stronger through acknowledging and learning how to let go of maladaptive relationship patterns and behaviors. Although counseling can be uncomfortable and challenging at times, the furniture students sit on doesn't have to be. I would also like to add the Game of Consequences and a sand tray to my counseling tool box. Counseling children needs to be fun and enjoyable for them. Play and art therapy are proven methods for achieving therapeutic success for children and adolescents. I use these techniques during counseling, and I would like to add more items to create a novel experience conducive to learning.
