The products that I am ordering were chosen to be engaging and hands on for my population of students. I teach a class of twelve students with multiple disabilities, autism being their primary disability. Most of my students are non readers and learn best from hands on activities. What we will be building from the materials I have ordered is a hanging hydroponics garden that we can grow herbs from. In our classroom we have a fish tank that will use a pump to pump water and the fish waste to provide nutrients to grow herbs. The herbs will then be used by my students in their culinary arts classes for cooking. I'm also excited about the circuit boards I have ordered. These color coded circuits will be used teach students how electronic circuits are used. The hands on building of a circuit board is a practical application that will help students to have a better understanding of the flow of electricity. This year has been really difficult for us after a tornado forced us out of our school and into another. But the kids have been great and we were able to push through the problem of changing schools. Now that we are settled into our new school I want to bring in exciting lessons that are creative and will keep the students engaged. Thank you to everyone who has donated to DonorsChoose and made this possible. Mr. Atkins
