Being a Special Education teacher means that the instruction must be differentiated to be meaningful and attainable to all students, no matter their abilities. To do so, I incorporate many arts and crafts activities which require ounces and ounces of paint and white glue. The use of dry-erase markers is essential in about 80% of the day as the students practice their handwriting by tracing and use white boards to answer during Math and ELA. Being a new classroom means that I get as much as possible from the school’s emergency supply cabinet. As a teacher, I have learned to work with what I have and make wonderful things , but the materials listed were not enough to last the school year.
