Students in my seventh grade class would learn how to use the Cricut machine and be asked to maximize its various capacities: cutting paper, vinyl, fabrics, and leather; drawing letters, student made designs, and uploaded designs. They would learn and practice measurement skills and design skills using Design Space, the accompanying Cricut design program. Students would learn how to use the website, Design Space, and manage designs placement and efficiency of space. Finally, students would be expected to practice proofreading skills such as: spelling, grammar, and punctuation. Students would be offered the opportunity to create hand-crafted, student designed products and be expected to develop business plans, learning skills of marketing and sales. With the Cricut cutting machine and the accompanying Design Space program, our students will be provided the tools to learn and be creative in the areas of design and marketing.
