There are so many reasons why headphones are necessary in our 6th grade classrooms. First, we try to have our kiddos utilizing technology as much as possible. Many of the online resources that we use have an audio component. For example, Khan Academy, which we use in the math classes, have video lessons that teach new and review skills to our students. In Mrs. W's classroom, she uses her computers as a listening station for the whole class novel. That means that the students can listen to the book as they read it, so the reader can have a strong model reader. These are just a few examples of how will will use these headphones on a daily basis.
