My third graders love to move and be active throughout the day. We started doing flexible seating this year and my students love to move and wiggle while they work. They decided they wanted to go even further! They are asking for two iPad minis to use throughout the day during independent work time. First, they would like to use the iPads to do yoga as one of their choice centers. We have a corner in our room that they can go when they need to take a brain break and get some physical activity. Second, they would like to use them to play Go Noodle active learning games as a class and individually. Go Noodle does an amazing job of tying academic content to fun dances and songs. They especially like to body spell their spelling words! Finally, they decided that they would like to use the iPads to create informational videos through a variety of apps to play for the entire school. They will research nutritious foods and create fun movie trailers to teach other students about the importance of nutrition and healthy options to choose for snacks. They also think it would be fun to record themselves doing fitness challenges and other fitness routines! My students believe that this will get them moving for at least an hour or more throughout the day. Active Students + Healthy Students = Success for Life!
