The amount of time a teacher instructs, which is mostly talking, the less likely students will fully grasp a concept. Teachers just love to talk. In a special education setting, the less talking the better. Videos and technology grasp a student's brain much quicker than a boring teacher voice. Last year, my students watched Brain Pop Jr. once a week in a special education math replacement classroom. The material was presented in a short, explicit, yet humorous way. Several time throughout the year, students would ask if they could, "Please, Miss Murphy, can we just watch one more Brain Pop!"
