My students at my middle school are ~90% poverty. They are hard workers who do not have the privilege to enjoy the modern advancement in technology and get the "hand-me downs" from other schools and districts. These students are more in the "survival mode" due to having to worry about where they will get their food everyday and if they will have electricity tomorrow. We are a medical and technology magnet school that does not have the funding to supply the teachers with all the technology needed, and instead needs to focus the money on keeping up with regular materials and keeping the children involved in activities to show them that school can be fun and they do not have to remain in the poverty level if they continue school.
