You can tell we’ve been writing and working together a lot this school year because our pencil sharpener broke and our favorite carpet tore up. These two things are essential for productivity in the classroom. Classmates helping make sure every student has a sharpened pencil while I demonstrate what to do on the carpet to get a good grade makes our classroom an ideal learning environment. I mean how can the kids write without sharpened pencils? In addition, I find it easier for students to understand the objectives we’re trying to accomplish when we tackle the task at hand together. A lot of the times that is being done is when we’re sitting on the carpet comfortably completing it. How can I forget that it helps them become better helpers and learners.
