Students will be empowered to make decisions in what type of learning environment works best for them. Will they sit, kneel, stand, balance? The choice is theirs! They will use the balance balls, wobble chairs, and stools to work collaboratively, communicate, and engage in critical thinking and be their own learner. Students will not be required to do the traditional sitting and working at a table, unless they desire to. They will be encouraged to try new methods and explore creative ways to make their school experience as successful as possible with all of the requested alternative seating options. A "one size fits all" approach will not be tolerated in my classroom; a "what works best for me" attitude will! The items I have selected for use in my classroom will provide students alternatives to regular chair seating while doing their assisnments. These tools will help students better focus on their body and their work. Students will be able to use the balance balls, Wobble chairs, Stabili-T stools, cube ottomans and stack stools at our regular classroom tables as alternatives to the four-leg chair. If students, like me, feel the floor is a better work space, they can utilize the Go anywhere chairs and lap trays. The Big Joe dorm chairs give students a cozy place to read a book! Options give students power, power enables creativity and self worth. My students are worth it!
