These materials will be used to help create a mindfulness corner in our school library. The mindfulness corner will serve as a safe space for students to go when they needed a few minutes to de-stress and re-focus on their studies. This corner will be designed as a quiet, calming place, where a student can come for 10-15 minutes to engage in a calming activity. The space will have bean bag chairs for students to sit in as well as a variety of sensory fidget items which are a helpful self regulation tool. There will also be art materials and coloring pages which students can do to help them relax. The mindfulness corner provides a positive environment for students who need a break from their studies without them needing to go to the office which can be seen as a punishment. We believe that providing this space for students will create a better learning environment for everyone.
