I am a very lucky art teacher at a low income, special education Chicago public school. My students are in the more severe special education population, so our art is used more for therapeutic purposes. We work on fine motor skills by trying to use paint brushes and squeeze and play with clay. We also work on sensory experiences. Every new thing the child touches causes the neurons in the brain to fire back and forth sending messages about their new experience and stimulating that child. With your help I would like to document all of the wonderful experiences that our children have with their parents and families. Our parents work so hard to provide for their special needs children, many of them have 2 jobs, and struggle to support there families. For many of these parents it can be hard to see the light at the end of the tunnel. I hope the images of their children laughing, playing, creating and exploring will bring them the happiness that it brings me. Even if I come to work in
