My students will be facing many challenges in their lives, they will need to solve problems that we haven’t even recognized yet. I want to help students be prepared for the world they will live in. Students need to be able to solve complex problems and think critically while working with others, the supplies for a Breakout EDU kit in my classroom will give them practice in these important skills. Have you ever heard of an escape room as a form of entertainment? The Breakout EDU activity is a similar idea. Students work collaboratively to solve multi-level problems which give them clues to unlock the next clue. The kit would include a box that would be locked with different types of locks, a keyed lock, number combination lock, word combination lock and others. Some of my lesson ideas include students looking at human sustainability and engineering. They work together to find clues that I have carefully placed around the room. They will have to find a black box, figure out the combination based on clues before being able to unlock. Once they unlock it they will find a thumb drive with information on it or a black light flash light. The black light flash light will allow them to see clues I have made with invisible link. The clues will include valuable content for students to learn. Once students solve all the clues they will be able to unlock all the locks on the box and open it.
