My students have rigorous classes that teach them how to close read, how to dissect author's purpose and author's craft, and to how to create beautiful essays. To supplement this high-rigor and high-intensity curriculum, we also want students to be reading on their own, for fun, with books that are on their level. We need a library full of fun and engaging books that inspire students to read on their own and to fall deeply in love with the world of reading for pleasure. We know that this is what most builds strong, life-long readers. Our school has just reached full size, and we simply do not have enough books yet to have the robust, enticing library that our kids need. I want to see my student excited to chose their next book because they have interesting options from which to select.
