Breakout boxes are a challenging, new style of learning. They provide an opportunity for students to take charge of their own learning. Through critical thinking skills, collaboration and, unsuccessful attempts in breaking into the box, students learn new problem solving skills and how to apply those skills. The Breakout Edu boxes are a platform for students to expand their critical thinking, collaboration creativity and communication skills. The boxes and locks would provide our classroom multiple hands on learning activities and lessons. This type of learning environment helps transfer ownership of learning from teacher to students. The boxes can be used in any subject with any lesson and are very versatile in the classroom. These boxes provide learning opportunities for students to think completely out of the box. They students are given clues, puzzles, anything related to the lesson to solve and work together to open the locks and "breakout". The breakout edu website has so many lessons to use with the kits and more gamesare being added daily. I see these learning lessons using these breakout edu boxes, as times when the students will walk away amazed with what they have done. My students need to be up and moving around to keep their brains from going numb, and these breakout boxes provide them just the opportunity they need to do so and they dont even realize they are learning so many skills at the same time. These boxes will provide a new opportunity for all 94 of my students to use critical thinking skills while learning new skills.
