"Google" is an important word in our classroom. Having seven Chromebooks in our classroom will support our Reader's and Writer's Workshops. In Reading, students will be able to access Glogster and make an online poster for core novels. As we are reading an epic such as Beowulf, or a more contemporary novel like The Giver together, students can post their thoughts and questions about their reading on Padlet with their Chromebooks and I can display them to the whole class for discussion. Writing is a process and by having classroom access to Chromebooks, my students will be able to collaborate, draft, revise, and publish daily. I use the Writer'sWorkshop model in my classroom and often times we are working in small groups focusing on specific writing goals. As I am conferencing with students one-on-one on their writing, other student groups can be collaborating on their writing pieces using the Chromebooks. Twice a week I also have an Access class in my room and during the Access period, students can use the Chromebooks for vocabulary practice through Membean or strengthen their reading skills through Newsela. World History web quests, Social Studies inquiry centers, and authentic research will be easily accessed with these new Chromebooks. Authentic research for Medieval History projects will be at our fingertips every day. These technology tools and instructional resources that my students will be using are the very tools that will make them successful in their future educational studies and life long careers.
