The items I am requesting include:
-a large daily schedule with pockets for each period and pockets for words and pictures describing what we'll be doing. This will provide a clear visual display of what we've accomplished each day and what to expect next.
-a large laminated calendar with removable months, days, and dates to go over every morning
-large letters and numbers to display in the room
-bright colored bulletin board paper for an appealing and welcoming feel as subjects, units, and student work are displayed
-construction paper, markers, and other creative supplies
An inviting classroom makes students feel safe, and once they're comfortable they are ready to engage in rigorous instruction. Because this is my first year teaching I am starting with a totally blank slate. I need EVERYTHING. But I also want to get supplies as soon as possible, so I kept my project pennies above the minimum to ensure success and faster shipping of supplies. Structure and order and a sense of comfort are extremely important to me to keep my students fully engaged. Just a few things to go on the wall that they will see and use everyday will be cherished by me. Help me get them started right away with a successful first day!
