My students struggle with keeping their thoughts organized while writing. They also struggle with questioning the text to develop a deeper understanding of what they are reading. Colorful pens will allow them to color code their ideas while writing, as well as, keep them engaged with questioning high level texts. These pens will be used every day in a variety of teaching strategies that will encourage students' reading and writing abilities. I teach in a high poverty area, and you would be surprised at how exciting a new, colorful pen can be to some of my less fortunate students. Sometimes, it's the small things that can create the best learning environment for students. Thank you for considering my project!
