One of the things my students struggle with is the motivation to press on when they encounter challenges. I recently attended a workshop titled Personalized Learning with the Habits of Mind. At last, the answer to this issue is just before me. I will use this library to teach my students the HABITS they need to successfully solve 21st-century problems. Students will learn skills such as perseverance, cooperative learning, flexible thinking, clear communication, etc. As we read these books and reflection on our learning, our classroom will become more and more student driven. Students will recognize the power within themselves by using the habits, then authentic learning will occur throughout the year. Wow, I can't wait!
