During the horrible storm of August 2016, 20 plus years of teaching materials were literally washed away. Our entire collection of big books was destroyed. A good big book can teach a class so very much about reading. From print concepts like where to begin, letters make words, sight words, spacing, punctuation, etc... In addition, children adore being read to. It is truly one of my favorite things to do with my class. We spend several days on a book and my students begin to "share" the reading with me. I want to order big books that we used daily before the storm. With over 40 plus books, both fiction and nonfiction, we can start our collection and continue teaching little people to read.
