I work with students from pre-kindergarten through fifth in a range of settings from whole class to small group to one on one. The students I work with are in need of math intervention services. When these students first walk in, they often express that math is too hard or that they don't like it or, the most common phrase I hear is, I'm not good at math. I meet students where they are academically and try to make math fun and engaging through problem solving, puzzles, games, and collaborative learning. In addition, students use manipulatives and models to really see and feel the math. During these sessions, students work at their own pace, ask questions, and help each other explore and understand math concepts. They walk away feeling successful and wanting to know when they get to come back.
