I believe wholeheartedly that people gravitate towards what they need without even having to really think about it. Children who are able to problem-solve at an early age grow to be healthy, well-rounded adults and community members. Flexible seating helps them learn to make appropriate choices to better their learning experiences. Health benefits of flexible seating include, but are not limited to, burning more calories due to moving, socializing with friends, using up excess energy, and increased motivation and engagement. In a world where children are constantly connected, we need to ensure our classrooms include open communication, group work, critical thinking, and creativity. Flexible seating allows for this! Teachers must adapt right along with students and the global community we are a part of. Removing traditional desks and allowing for choice and options will enhance the all around learning experience in my classroom. Flexible seating, like a wobble chair, will allow children to learn independence and gain skills to problem solve.
