Currently, my students only have access to science textbooks and any resources we can find on the Internet. In order to understand scientific concepts fully, they need to conduct investigations and experiments, thus engaging in experiential learning in order to reach their grade-specific Next Generation Science Standards. Several of my students are reluctant readers or have reading challenges (like dyslexia), so hands-on learning is a more effective way for them to access the curriculum as opposed to reading dry textbooks. Experiential learning and inquiry-based learning are great ways to reach those students who have a hard time with book work.
