I am requesting a MacBook Air for my students who receive speech-language therapy. We are currently a Title l school located in Rockaway Beach, Queens. Because we were impacted by Hurricane Sandy, many of the computers and desktops that are being used are either outdated or no longer working to their fullest potential. Many of the students that are receiving therapy do not have access to technology such as a computer at home due to the low-income area that they live in. Providing my students with a laptop will not only be motivating and rewarding but will help reach each major MILESTONE they have as individual students. The MacBook will be used to type up reports and learn the importance of proofreading. Additionally, students will be instructed to review and read research articles based on each student's grade and reading style, and download applications related to specific topics such as articulation, reading, writing etc. Lastly, providing my students with this computer will truly motivate them to want more for themselves and to learn about the advances in technology to prepare for the future.
