Jenny Arledge said, "Technology can become the "wings" that allow the educational world to fly farther and faster than ever before- if we will allow it. Technology has taken over the classrooms! But, in a good way! With the integration of technology in the classroom, children have an amazing tool right at their fingertips. Statistics show that having access to technology in the classrooms can greatly increase student learning. In a study done by Houghton Mifflin Harcourt, results showed that students who used Ipads or Tablets saw math test scores increase 20% in one year. Technology also supports a different sensory approach that traditional textbooks are not able to provide, which is great for students who don't always learn best with just the traditional approach. In my classroom, the Amazon Kindle will be used in a variety of ways. The first way the Kindle will be used in my room is for enrichment. When students come to my room, I often have 3-5 students at a time. Those students all come from different levels of learning, so it is important to provide enrichment activities for the students who can quickly master a concept and be done before other students. The second way the Kindle will be used in my classroom is for intervention. There are many apps that can provide FUN extra practice to students who may not grasp concepts when presented the first, second, or even third time. The last way the Kindle will be used in my room is for reading. With Amazon Kindle, there is an endless library of e-books that my students can choose to read. One great feature of e-books on the Kindle is that the books can be read to a student.
