My music students learn music the best through experience. How much more learning could occur if ALL my students could experience and create music all together and for the whole class period? Group Drumming not only teaches rhythmic concepts, form, ensemble skills, and other musical concepts, but it gives students the opportunity to practice essential collaboration and teamwork skills. Group Drumming also provides benefits to student's social and emotional growth. However, many of our current classroom instruments are in disrepair from age, or we simply do not own enough to allow each student to make music for the entire class. My students are flexible and show such grit in their learning, but imagine how much more we could learn if we had more classroom resources! This project would get us one step closer to DRUMS FOR ALL!
