By reading the book Wonder, my students will be exposed to the importance of tolerance toward others. We will investigate author's point of view to its fullest extent. We will put ourselves in his shoes and try to feel his pain. The class will connect with the main character on a personal level, finding connections between his condition and their own lives. Shared literature gives an opportunity to expand vocabulary, depth of knowledge, and a joy for reading. We will read this book whole class, in small groups, and independently. The content will drive studies in social understanding and tolerance.
