As I head into year 9 I find myself overwhelmed by the lessons I have learned in the classroom. There is NO greater joy than watching a student unlock their understanding of something new. In all my work I find there is no greater key to unlocking this work than BOOKS themselves. Research shows that students need to be reading at their rate and level multiple times a day. Students need choice in their books, and thus a classroom of 30 students means we need an army of books. Keeping me library fully stocked and up to date continues to be one of the single greatest challenges, as well as keeping up with my students and their excitement for books. I have been so lucky to be in a building with absolutely incredible parent support in this department, and have been able to make many purchases in the book department. However, books are one of the most expensive purchases a teacher must make. I continue to always have a long list of books on my waiting list, particularly in the series department. My goal is to be able to take a big bite out of this list this year!
