Visual aids are an indispensable part of any educator's tool kit. Students that are struggling readers or English Language Learners cannot have enough differentiated stimuli. By offering students atlases and map skills workbooks, we can be confident students are receiving useful visual stimuli. Sadly, geography is an often forgotten aspect of social studies and yet, its importance could not be of greater consequence to students' understanding of history large and small. Partnering with the community will enable the students to obtain a greater appreciation of geography and its impact on social and historical development. With the right tools (e.g. maps, atlases, workbooks), students can better appreciate the vastness of this planet of ours.
