My students are diverse learners with various needs. Most of the students have free or reduced lunches, but we will not let that be a disadvantage. This year, my classroom is full of a wide variety of reading needs and interests. As 5th graders, this is their last auxiliary year before they head to middle school, where they are expected to deep dive into texts. It is critical to help my readers this year develop as much as possible before they head off to bigger and better things.
