My students need equipment to launch a maker space in our library. The addition of a green screen studio combined with the Touchcast app, will let the students create newscasts from around the school and via backgrounds, around the world. They will be able to create engaging interactive videos on habitats or forces in motion, as well as information on upcoming school events or "how to" videos. This will add a new dimension to class reports and school promotion. Adding Dash and Dot to our maker space will give our students an authentic experience with coding, an essential component of many future careers. Finally, adding the Makey Makey's allows upper grade students to have hands on experience with electronics and problem solving. They will learn to stick with a challenging task until they get the circuit to work. The addition of OSMO's will help struggling students to master letters, numbers and problem solving; again teaching perseverance in a fun way. All this equipment will give my students opportunities to creatively work together. This equipment will motivate my students to think critically and creatively. My goal is to do what it takes to help move my students toward grade level benchmarks. Please consider funding this project so that the students can see themselves as creators.
