My students love having big books read to them because they are able to see the print along with the pictures. We need Big Book Storytelling Activity Kits and a storage rack. After each book is read during whole group read aloud, it will be put into a literacy station along with the storytelling props. My students will use the books and props to retell the story using new vocabulary. By donating to our project, you will help my students find a love for reading. The props will give them an opportunity to find a love for reading and expand their vocabulary using a hands-on approach. My students love to "read" books to each other, and the big books will give them the opportunity to use pre-reading skills such as tracking print and using picture cues. All these skills will help with comprehension and fluency when they become readers.
