Young children learn best through play experiences that are child-driven and teacher-facilitated. My students will use their new manipulative materials to engage in hands-on and investigative play to support learning goals in literacy, math, and scientific inquiry. They will practice identifying letters and the sounds they make with the Alphabet Teaching Tubs; they will learn 1-1 correspondence by counting concrete materials using the Magnetic Counting Activity Tins; and they will experience the Scientific Process with the Problem-solving STEM kits. Because all learning is multi-dimensional, across the academic content they are also building vocabulary, conversational, and social skills, strengthening fine motor development, and discovering how the physical world around them works.
