I would like to begin our semester by reading this book with my middle school students. I think it's important for my students to grow not only academically, but also personally. On the very first day of school, I expressed to my students that my goal as their teacher is to build a positive learning community with THEIR help. Reading this book will show my students the important lessons on bullying, inclusion, family, friendship, acceptance, love, and leadership. We will not only read this book, but will participate in active discussions, group work, creative projects, vocabulary practice, and many more activities. My hope is that my students will learn to respect each other and others after reading this book, and keep the beautiful lessons in their hearts forever. Of course, applying the lessons they've learned from reading this book will be a beautiful sight to see!
