Legos will help my students replicate structures for our theme work throughout the year; we will be recreating the voting booths that students will visit in our school, architecture from Ancient Greece, and construction in our physical science theme in the spring. My students will be able to work collaboratively, innovate, and experiment with building. I intentionally am requesting a variety of Lego pieces instead of a box set so that my students can imagine freely and not simply build what they're 'supposed' to build. In order for my students to become engineers of the future, they need to have the opportunity to build, design, make mistakes, and learn from them. Having these materials will provide them with that opportunity, and I greatly look forward to seeing many wonderful creations develop in our classroom.
