Students are not satisfied and fully engaged in learning by sitting at a desk all day. Let's face it, even as adults we are bored sitting still all day. Why wouldn't a 7 year old be bored as well? This is why I am seeking alternative seating options for our classroom. Alternative seating leads to a fully engaged classroom where students are encouraged to wiggle and find comfort, all while learning. The stability balance discs will allow students to wiggle in their chairs at their desks. This will lead to better focus on seated work. The stay-n-play stability balls will allow students to bounce, wiggle, or rock while in a small group setting with the teacher. This will help students focus when they are working one-on-one with the teacher. The textured pillows will allow for students to become comfy while reading a book around the room, or even at their seats. With the different textures offered by the pillows there will be a type that will sooth students and make them feel at home. The knee pads and the stools offer another option for alternative seating options for students if they so choose. The purpose of the variety of seating options is to find something for everyone. All students have the right to feel safe and comfortable while in the classroom. It is vitally important that this is provided to students, so they have the chance to love learning at a young age. The alternative seating project will help ensure that all students' needs are met inside the classroom.
