Recess is always a fun time that my students always look forward to. They watch the clock as it ticks down and I can see their faces start to become excited as recess nears. Once the bell rings, the students bolt out the door. Throughout the years of my teaching, recess is still a time of day that the students enjoy the most. Recently we had a discussion with the students, and the question that came up was, "How can we make recess better?". Inside I was laughing because as a teacher I felt that recess for a student is as good as it gets. But as we went through our discussion, students started sharing their thoughts on improving recess. We are requesting Apple Watches and a Bose Soundlink Bluetooth Speaker for our project to make recess better for our students. From our discussion, the students brought up the idea of tracking their physical activity. Our idea is to have two students wear the Apple Watches throughout the day and as a class we will monitor their physical activity. Another idea that was discussed was having music playing during recess. We are requesting the Bose Speaker to play music during our recess so students can have music to listen to while they are playing or dancing. We are hoping that these items will boost the level of physical activity during recess.
