The trapezoid tables will give students more space to move around in the classroom so that they can have indoor recess during inclement weather. The increased space will decrease behavioral issues and increase time on task. These tables will also help to create a better learning environment, reduce stress, increase student engagement, and improve social and emotional health. For example if it is raining outside, instead of canceling outdoor recess and playing board games, the students can have indoor recess and keep active. I would help students to push the trapezoid tables to the back of the classroom and use the front part of the class to do go noodle activities or play an indoor movement game. In addition, if a student needs a short movement break the trapezoid tables will allow more space for them to take a break by simply pushing the chair back and doing some arm circles or jog in place. I am looking forward to seeing my students being more active, happier, and even more focused in the classroom.
