The materials requested were considered very carefully based on spatial limitations and student need. Students are required to sit all day long which is not conducive to student growth. My classroom is small and needs to offer flexible seating for my growing English Learner class sizes. By offering flexible seating my students will be able to move through the room, choose their seating based on their needs, and find the type of seating that makes them successful. When students can focus in the classroom, their learning grows immensely. Students like to make choices and flexible seating allows them to make personal decisions daily. For those who need to move during class, they can stand, while others may prefer a gamer style chair that allows them to rock back and forth. Choice lets students take control of their learning in a way they have not been able to traditionally. Studies have shown the improvement in student growth through flexible seating. This year I saw grades improve and increased student engagement with the limited options. Through this project I want to see these results for all my students.
