My students need the materials and space to explore ideas and deepen their understanding through the visual arts. When students learn through arts integration, they are engaged in experiences, in which they actively build and demonstrate their understanding of both the art form and the other curriculum area. Sometimes, students just need an opportunity to explore different artistic mediums, just for art's sake. The fine arts provide learners with non-academic benefits, such as promoting self-esteem, motivation, aesthetic awareness, cultural exposure, creativity, improved emotional expression, as well as social harmony and appreciation of diversity. My goal is to use these donated art supplies across their curriculum, as well as weekly opportunities to experience the visual arts.
