The incubator will be used in my classroom to enhance a science unit on chick hatching by providing a hands-on experience for the students. We can get eggs from a local farmer who comes to talk to the class at the beginning of the unit. We candle the eggs along the way and learn about the life cycle of the developing chick. The excitement that comes from witnessing the whole process from egg to chick is priceless! The students make observations, write in science journals, predict the outcome, watch the chicks hatch and learn about how to take care of the chicks until they go back to the farm.
