I want to implement stations in the classroom. This will give students the opportunity to choose where they will work while also providing me the time to work one on one with other students. The students will be given freedom to choose what station they would like to work at for the day. Currently every student wants to use the computer everyday however, I want to give them more choices to make learning fun. By offering a variety of hands on choices my students will begin to gain the concepts of reading, writing and math and doing it independently. It will also possibly help with behaviors by giving them an outlet to express themselves, without the words or work being permanent. I have students that shutdown during math. I am changing the way I do math by using small groups and stations. The math folder game library and the Operations and Algebraic folder games will offer a variety of games to make fun. It will also give the students the option to choose what they are familiar with. I want the students to feel empowered by learning and not overwhelmed or stressed. I want to make reading something the students look forward to while also allowing the opportunity to do it independently with the Fiction/Nonfiction single student read slings. I like to encourage the students to use their imagination and learn through play.
