Flexible seating gives students the opportunity to learn within their unique comfort zone. Some students need to be able to move in order to process information, some do better sitting on the ground, and some appreciate the standard desk and chair. By giving students options, they can develop self awareness AND better focus on the tasks at hand. My students need balance balls and bouncy bands to give a healthy outlet for wiggles, and cushions and bean bags to find comfortable floor seating. Flexible seating gives individuals a better opportunity to grow academically and socially. Having the freedom to choose where and how you work each day promotes a community atmosphere. These options will benefit my wiggly students and help assure that all of the students feel their opinion is valued.
