This project will give students a chance to use density blocks to weigh and measure different materials and metals found in nature. As they learn to visualize where these materials are found; heavy metals are near the center of the earth, wooden materials are plant based and found on the crust. They can see the difference between densely packed elements compared to less densely packed elements. The Geiger counter will be used to help students see how densely packed objects will sometimes release energy to actually change into different elements.
